ASK Prayer Ministry
Through this ministry, every church family is prayed for during the course of one year by a Prayer Warrior volunteer. Each Prayer Warrior receives a letter with the names of two Church families to pray for daily for the next 3 months. The letters include postcards to send to the two families. This lets the family know they are prayed for and ASKS them what their prayer needs are.
Caring Cards
Members of the committee send cards to any parishioners that are experiencing a challenging time such as times of loss, serious illness, surgery, and ongoing treatments.
Caring Contacts
Church members “adopt” a shut-in and send a card or note to that person once a month as we want our “shut-ins” to still feel connected to their church and know that they are thought about and are being prayed for.
College Boxes for Finals Ministry
The College Box Ministry reaches out to our college students to support them as they end their school semester and take final exams. A box of goodies packed by the congregation is mailed to the students and includes snacks, items needed to study, encouraging notes and prayers to help them through a stressful week. Congregation members can participate and support this ministry through donating items, sponsoring a box by paying postage, write notes of encouragement, and praying for the students, finals boxes, and the ministry.
Funeral Luncheons
Our mission is to provide a friendly and welcoming place for families and friends to gather after a funeral and be comforted with conversation, fellowship, food, and drink.
After talking with the family regarding the details of the luncheon, congregational members are contacted to volunteer to bring in side dishes or desserts. The family pays for any meat requested.
Have Car, Will Travel
This ministry provides a service to congregational members who are in need of a ride to a local medical appointment. A list of volunteers who have signed up for this ministry is available in the Church office. Simply call the Church office for the list and contact the volunteers several days prior to the appointment if possible.
Martha's Coffee House
Between services on Sunday, congregation members volunteer to host and donate individually wrapped treats (homemade or purchased). Coffee, tea, and lemonade are also provided. It is a comfortable setting in the library to enjoy refreshments, treats, and conversation.
Milestone Birthdays
Congregational members celebrating birthdays at age 75, 80, 85, 90+ are recognized by this committee. Cards made by children/youth of the Church are signed by congregational members prior to mailing the birthday card. In addition, Milestone Birthdays are listed each month in the Tele-Christian.
Military Ministries
We recognize our Veterans on Veteran’s Day and treat them and their immediate family to a luncheon in our Fellowship Hall.
New Baby Ministry
This ministry gives the Church an opportunity to personally share with the family the joy of a new baby.
Congratulations are sent by telephone or card, arrangements are made for a personal visit to deliver a gift (the gift may be a prayer shawl, silver spoon, or wooden cross which are tangible signs of their Church family’s love and support).
Prayer Blanket Ministry
The Prayer Blanket Ministry provides a blanket that has been prayed over to those in need of physical, emotional, or spiritual support. The blanket is a physical reminder of God’s love wrapping around a person in a time of need. The blanket includes a tag with a prayer for the recipient.
Prayer Chain
The Prayer Chain allows our congregation to request prayer for themselves and for others (after receiving permission). It makes us aware of who is in need of prayer support and allows us to join our hearts with God’s heart to bring them comfort and healing.
Nurse Is In
The Nurse Is In offers free blood pressure checks privately every month to congregational members. Monthly health articles of interest are also submitted to the Tele-Christian Newsletter.
Visitor Care
As a part of our FUMC hospitality, we present guests who have joined us for a Sunday or Thursday LYFT service with homemade cookies.
Worship Attendance
Post cards are sent to those members of the congregation that have missed three, five, or more Sundays just to let them know that we missed them in Church.
